When he received his report cards with good and above satisfactory grades, his father, a reputed IAS (Indian Services) officer, was not impressed and pleased. Upon not being happy, the 10-year-old Gautam asked him for a reason. His father then said something which went on to be engraved in his head. He said, "Good is not good enough when better is expected." Upon hearing the words, Dr. Gautam was not the same. He lives by this quote to this date. After that quote, nothing was ever satisfactory to Dr. Shubh Gautam, and it always pushed him more and more toward his goal.
