Tares? | |
This is a KJV Bible study guide. The subject of this parable [Matthew 13:24-30] is the kingdom of heaven which begins with the sowing of good seed. I feel the 2 verses below are very important; this is Jesus speaking here. Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. (Leave the "tares" alone (the false ones), till the harvest and I will take care of them. "Almighty God does this!" The wicked will be separated from the righteous. (Malachi 3:18, Matthew 25:32). The wheat (the righteous), will be spared, the tares (the wicked), will be burned. (Matthew 25:41, John 15:6). What are tares and who do they represent? Jesus says the tares will be gathered first, not the church (true believers) Matthew 13:36-40 tells you who the tares are. See those verses below. Tares: A noxious plant, of the grass family, supposed to mean the darnel. It grows among the wheat everywhere in Palestine, and bears a great resemblance to it while growing, so closely that, before they head out, the two plants can hardly be distinguished. The grains are found, 2 or 3 together, in 12 small husks, scattered on a rather long head. The Arabs do not separate the darnel from the wheat, unless by means of a fan or sieve, after threshing (Mat. 13:25-30). If left to mingle with the bread, it occasions dizziness, and often acts as an emetic. ("Smith’s Bible Dictionary", A. J. Holman Company, pg. 301.) [a poisonous weed that is used to represent the devils offspring. See John 8:44]. Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. (The disciples didn't get it, so Christ will explain to them what He meant back in verses 24-30). Matthew 13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (The "Son of Man" is Christ in the flesh). Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; (The field represents the world, and the good seed are the children of God; but, the tares are the offspring of Satan. (John 8:44). The word seed in this verse is "Sperma" Strong's #4687 in the Greek, male sperm, offspring). Matthew 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (Satan (the devil), is the father of the "Kenites," or son's of Cain. The harvest is the end of this world age , and the reapers will be the angels). Matthew 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. (At the end of this earth age; God will be that consuming fire. "The tares, children of the wicked one, or Kenites," (whatever you call them), will be destroyed along with all other evil." (Matthew 13:30). However, a "Kenite" or follower of Satan, can still convert to God's way (upon repentance), and they will also have salvation). Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just. (In the end times, their will be a separation of the wicked from the Godly. It won't be good for those who are not written in the "book of life." See Revelation 20:12-15).
