The homes are always for sale and the sellers are never mentioned or directly involved. We've never continued the conversation past this. Clearly the check will appear to clear then end up not. So you do the work then are not paid. The part I'm guessing on is who benefits. We called a seller once and they appeared confused. So my thought is that the seller hires someone to rehab and operate as a GC. Or possibly someone that says they're a plumber. That "company" then does this. They collect from the seller, don't pay the real plumber and they're out. There could be another middleman in there, but I'm guessing it's that simple.  | |
