“If you are looking for faults to correct, try looking in the mirror!” In other words, we look for those faults in others that we most dislike in ourselves! This is a KJV Bible study guide.
Luke 6:41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
(Jesus is saying, look at your own faults first before you point out the faults of others. In other words, clean up your own act first with truths from God's word. Don't be a hypocritical, holier than thou sort).
Luke 6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
(Jesus is saying, how can you say to someone, 'Let me help you with the small speck (sin) in your eye,' when you can't see past the huge board (sin) in your own eye? Don't think you are better than anyone, when you cannot even discern the truth about yourself! Learn the truths from God's Word first, then you can share those truths and lovingly help others).
Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; (We are all sinners. We are all in the same boat. No one is any better than anyone else. Clean up your own act first).

Acts 10:34 (God is not a respecter of persons. He doesn't show partiality to anyone. He doesn't discriminate for any reason. All get treated/judged equally and fairly. We get exactly what we deserve from Him. See Deuteronomy 10:17 and 2 Samuel 14:14).

Don’t be too hard on the person who sins,
For the yardstick you lay on another
May someday be used as a measure for you;
Oh, be gracious and judge not, my brother!
Let me not judge my fellowmen,
But understand them, Lord, and when
The casting of stones begins,
Remind me of my many sins.
R.W. DeHaan

Food for thought: When asked the difference between Christianity and all other religions, a prominent preacher answered by saying, “You spell all other religions DO. You spell Christianity DONE.” All religions except Christianity require the believer to meet the requirements of righteousness through religious acts and habits—you must do certain things to earn your way into heaven. In Christianity, God has DONE all that is required for us to be righteous and to have eternal life through His Son, Jesus, the Christ, a gift, if we accept it and truly repent.

More food for thought: I see on the television sometimes confrontations (shouting matches) between street preachers and homosexuals/lesbians. The street preacher points out the verses about sodomy and God’s opinion of that particular sin; they usually don’t go any further. They fail to preach that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and that homosexuality is not the unforgivable sin; in other words, it can be forgiven if one seeks that forgiveness. I often wonder why the street preachers do this. They are driving people away from God instead of toward Him by telling only part of the story; they are doing exactly what Jesus is describing in Luke 6:41 above. Remember where judgment begins, see 1 Peter 4:17 for your answer.
