Who is he? | |
Please print this out and use as a KJV Bible study guide! Genesis 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. Genesis 14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: Genesis 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. (God delivered the enemy into the hands of Abram and his 318 servants/armed men. More evidence of Melchizedek being Jesus Christ). Genesis 14:21-24: Abram vowed to God not to take anything, he did let his men take their portion; the king of Sodom said, give me the persons and none of the goods. Psalm 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. (Straight from the mouth of Jesus, God in the flesh. God cannot lie. This upset the religious [Jews] folks that heard this as it still does today in some cases. Please remember, Jesus is God in the flesh and He doesn’t lie). Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; (lower case “k”). Hebrews 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (upper case “K”. How many Kings of righteousness are there? Only one I know of is Jesus Christ). Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. (Like unto the Son of God? Could that refer to Jesus Christ? Yes)!! Hebrews 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? [Why did mankind need Jesus Christ? See Romans 3:20-24.] Hebrews 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. Hebrews 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hebrews 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Salem = G4532, peace or the place where Melchizedek was king and thought to be the ancient name of Jerusalem. King = G935, bas-il-yooce'; probably from (through the notion of a foundation of power); a sovereign (abstractly, relatively, or figuratively):—king. Righteousness = G1343, dik-ah-yos-oo'-nay; in a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God; the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God; integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling and acting; in a narrower sense: justice or virtue which gives each his due. Genesis 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood: (Shems descendants are in the following verses up to at least Genesis 11:26. Jesus had no wife, thus, He has no descendants. See Hebrews 7:3 again, “without descent”). Some say that Shem (common Jewish teaching), the son of Noah is believed to be Melchizedek king of Salem. Hebrews 7:3 says Melchizedek was without father, without mother and without descent. Shem has a father, mother and a genealogy. Hmm? Food for thought: Melchizedek came on the scene long before Judaism, the Levitical priesthood or Christianity was established; he also appeared long before the law was given to Moses. Also, he doesn't seem to appear to any other person or in any other place in the Bible. Melchizedek didn’t have to offer up a sacrifice for himself daily, He did this once (Hebrews 7:27); Levitical priests had to be cleansed first before entering the holy of holies. Hmm? Sounds like Christ’s sacrifice. The words “king of Salem” only occur in three verses of the KJV Bible; in Hebrews 7:2 the letters “K” are all upper case. Are these clues to his identity? I don’t think it could be any clearer, Jesus said Abraham tithed to Him, Hebrews 7:2. Jesus said Abraham was glad to see Him in John 8:56; it is very clear to me. Remember, God/Jesus cannot lie. | |
