Traditions of men make the word of God meaningless! This is a KJV Bible study guide. Matthew 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. [By their man made rules and traditions they nullify the direct command of God to honor and care for their parents]. Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. [You cancel out the Word of God in order to hand down your own traditions. Christ warned against these traditions of men in many verses]. Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, [They try to impress men and not God. They want to look holy and advance their own reputations; tell-tale signs of false preachers, etc.]. Matthew 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. [They dress according to traditions of men, trying to look like such holy men in their fancy clothes. But underneath those fancy clothes, in their hearts, they are full of hypocrisy and sin. Not a good idea to follow anyone such as this. Just because something appears to be holy, does that mean it is holy? No way]. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. [Don't follow the philosophy and traditions of men, you will become spoiled and deceived. Follow the doctrines of Christ only. Where do you find those doctrines? In His word, the Bible. Study them, cover to cover; don’t omit any of them]. Titus 1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. [Quit listening to traditions of men and false doctrines. (II Timothy 4:3-4). Many Christians today reject the truth and chase after myths and traditions. If the message turns from the truth of God, get away from it. Try the spirits; 1 John 4:1]. The word of God warns us in so many verses not to give heed to the traditions of men! It can't be any clearer friends. Teach the doctrines of Christ only; don't support false teachers. See 2 John 1:9-11. Where do you find truth? God's word is truth, John 17:17. Study the Bible completely instead of just cherry picking a verse here and there and following the traditions of men. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. [Don't follow anyone that teaches doctrines or traditions of men. Follow the doctrines and traditions of God and Christ only]. We must be cautious of the emptiness of the traditions of men passed down through time, even those from our own forefathers or elders. Where does judgment begin? 1 Peter 4:17 tells us. Learn the doctrines of God through study of your Bible. Study it completely, cover to cover my friend. Do as we are commanded to do in 2 Timothy 2:15 below. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
