Planting seeds! | |
Planting seeds of truth from God’s word! This is a KJV Bible study guide. Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (Can’t be more plain than this). 1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. [Paul is saying he shared truths from God's word with others. You too can plant the seeds of truth, but only God can make them grow. When you share a truth with someone, they may hear it, or they may not. You or someone else may add to it, but, only God can make it actually grow in their mind. They will remember it when necessary]. 1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. [It is not important who plants the seed, or who adds to it (waters it), what is important is that God makes it grow, if it is His will. All the credit goes to God! Only God can make it grow whether it be a seed of truth or a vegetable seed; man cannot make either one grow. Man can only plant]. 1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. [The one who plants and the one who waters are working together for the same purpose. If the truth grows by Gods will, both will receive a reward for their works. Have you ever listened to a truth from one person but you didn't quite get it, then you hear about the same truth from another person and then it all becomes clear? This is an example of two different teachers working together in the same body of Christ. Both of them will be rewarded for the same truth]. 1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. [God dwells in His own people who are workers for Him, not a building. Your body is the temple (a personal, spiritual building) of God when you believe in Him. Ephesians 2:20-22, Hebrews 3:6, 1 Peter 2:5]. When you learn a truth from God's word, it is meant to be shared with others; don't be selfish. Matthew 5:15; Mark 4:21; Luke 11:33. That is what these verses are talking about. Don't hide God's truth. Continue to learn more of His truths through daily study of His word. See Acts 17:11 for your example. Don't be guilty of planting untruths such as commandments and traditions of men. Traditions of men make the word of God meaningless, untrue and burdensome! Plant seeds of truth only. Where does that truth come from? God's word. See John 17:17 below. Matthew 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. [By their man made rules and traditions they nullify the direct command of God to honor and care for their parents]. Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. [You cancel out the Word of God in order to hand down your own traditions. Christ warned against these traditions of men in many verses]. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (The truth in the Word will always set you free. Free from what? Free from the old law, traditions and commandments of men, false teachings, and ways of the world (sin). Most important, free from being a slave to Satan and his ways). (Again, see John 17:17 below, His word is truth). | |
